How much do you pay your maid?

Just wanted to get your feedback in terms of how much you pay your Filipina maids. The minimum is now 1,500 but a lot of people pay less. We pay her 1,200 and she has asked to be given a raise to 1,500. The 1,200 salary was a really good salary a year ago but maybe things have changed since then. When we renewed her contract last year the minimum was 1,400 but the woman at immigration said we didn't have to pay her that much (if you can believe it!). I guess a lot of people still pay under 1,000. We really like her so want to pay her a fair salary that is competitive in the market.

I dont have a full time maid, but personally I think 1200 is a bit too low, isn't it? I would pay mine (if I had one) the minimum - 1,500. I may be wrong, but I always convert back to my home currency and think how little that is.
The minimum wage for Filipinas has been 1470 for a couple of years now so 1200 a year ago was still short of the recommendation. If she's so good I would say definitely increase.
