I live btwn Ajman[college] and Abu Dhabi[home]. And so I spend a great deal of time in Dubai but when I come to AD nowadays everyone I meet has moved from Dubai to AD within the last 6 months. And theres a huuuge housing crisis in the city and absolutely NO place to park your car. And Salaam street the main street leading to the city, a street which I absolutely loved driving on with an amazing Gurm (mangrove) corniche has now become like SZR [sh.zayed road]. The gov. has planned 200 new building to counter the housing shortage but i dont think 200 is going to cut it. This influx of people is really throwing everything off balance :o

Sonshyne that Dubai is growing so fast that something in the planning was overlooked? Great vision but no where to live and no where to park? Sounds like another country not too far north. I am not trying to compare these two places, but it seems that something is missing in the equation overall.
You mean Kuwait? ;-)
Regarding driving, I think it's not only planning, but also depending on the culture of the majority of drivers on the roads. I mean stuff like how considerate are you for another person (just a stranger, not a friend of a relative of yours, or someone with a small number on the license plate)
I prefer to drive in AD. Though if u would ask me 2-3yrs back, I'd say Dubai. But not anymore and its not just because of the traffic. If u r in a hurry in AD, people would actually move .. in Dubai .. nope! U flash, u beep .. do whatever u want .. if he doesnt want to move, he just wont! I hate this. The funny thing, all of this started happening when private companies like Belhasa, Emirates Driving School etc. took over from the police. It seems now, u just go .. pay the fees .. and get ur DL after couple of months. Its just mad.
Regarding the car parkings - AD always had this problem, its just gotten worse now. At least Ad police doesn't fine u if u park on the curb or even near to the pavement .. they know the problem. Lets hope it gets better :)
