My husband's company has assigned him a new position and we will be moving to Dubai shortly.
I always thought Dubai is not exactly the best place to raise children because of oh-so-many factors .. traffic, pollution from all those construction sites, education on offer, and so on. My husbands salary will be quite good, more than he would have asked, and we already know what the cost of living in Dubai is, so that's not an issue. What do you think of raising a family in Dubai?? I would very much appreciate your input.
please tell me is it a good idea to raise our kids in Dubai

lets see the benefitts and disadvantages for you
You pay no tax in dubai. Hurraaah. with the salary of yur husband (seems you are contetn) you can afford private educacion -maybe cheaper than in england. Here you can have a nanny living in your house, no babysitting. There are many peoples from differen backgroudns that i normally can't see in Mexico or Latino America - Many water parks, skating rinks for children here, ALMOST NO CRIMES - on the opposite side, in Mexico, don't let me talk about it....very bad,,, drugs,,bad,, bad ,, bad The bad side of living in Dubai is the rents, very high rents...The summer is worse than bakc home.. so I think it's not that bad
)
Crime is basically non-existent in Dubai. Dubai is also proud of having very decent moral standards (except for a few Brits making out on the beach, for which they get what they desserve)
In most international schools multiculturalism is th norm with at least 60-70 nations represented.
exactly, navinc! crime is on the increase in London (it's not hard to notice
and even more worrying is that youth crime is particularly rampant. I think this would be a very good motivating factor for your move to dxb
With regards to pollution, it's bad in just about any big city. Dubai offers other challenges - avoid reckless drivers, for one!
regarding multiculturalism in Dubai: As a kid I was raised in an environment where ethnicity wasn't an issue. I would see as normal that a black kid was eating at the same table as a white kid and joking around with a Mexican guy. Here in Dubai it's all based on ethnicity and race! What you see on TV differs from reality.
thank you so much for all your input. I appreciate.
