Do you mates know about the recent survey in which expatriate folks were asked to say how happy they are with their host country, did they make any friends with the locals?, do they know the local language?, how easy is the transition from living in your own country to living in the host country...
Well, apparantely of the 15 countries studied by the HSBC bank (some bias here perhaps??)) Canada comes at the very top with 95%, followed by Germany and Australia. The UAE with 55% is at number 14 (out of 15).

Is this some kind of a popularity contest?? and it is designed by the HSBC bank??? Why a bank? I don't get it. The UAE is the most liberal (free) Middle Eastern country, no doubt about it, but again, it IS a Middle Eastern country with its local traditions and so on,so I guess for many of the respondents it appeared as a hardship posting or what?
Whatever they say, Dubai rocks!
granted, some of the countries in the list are all anglo-saxon like Canada, Australia, US so of course a UK or US expatriate will feel better in Canada or in Australia compared to Dubai or the UAE at large. Why don't they ask Arab expatriates, do they feel better in the Gulf countries or in the UK or US for example? I mean, take a different perspective
