Is shoe throwing the utmost show of contempt in Dubai culture?

the_good_infidel's picture

I just thought it might be, but maybe somebody here knows for sure, although I have never seen anybody throwing shoes at another person  in Dubai. And you know what led me to think about this!

I haven't seen anybody do it either, but I am sure it mustbe extremely offensive, especially knowing that showing your sole to an Arab is considered offensive.

And yes, I know why you thought of asking this... Because of what happened to Mr.

Sure, arabs anywhere consider footwear dirty so this is an outstanding insult. But i also think it's an universal sign of indigantion

Footwear issue maybe acceptable to most, but burning flag made Obama insulted.

Few people have related this to freedom of speech. It was an insult to Bush and unethical from the journalist.

I might be taking it away from point but please read.

Sometime, when child abuse the father which never happened before will put father in deep sadness and then he will recall all his last instances when he was abusing him or others.

Like making cartoon of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led thousands of protest around the world and great sadness among Muslim. Even cartoons had been always fun.

The thing is what you think is not need to be imposed to others. But certainly, media supporting any event results reactions. Few like it and few dislike.

I feel Mr. Bush will recall his all decisions to take the world on the moment of recession. How dishonesty to poor/weak will resulted into total world economy collapsing.

i am sorry for him to get this on his departure, he lost his all self-claimed achievements.

..."making cartoon of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led thousands of protest around the world and great sadness among Muslim"

It wasn't sadness. It was agression and violence. I remember many people were killed in those protests. It is so stupid to kill somebody over some cartoons!! Andhave in mind that most of those Muslim out on the streets had NOT even seen the cartoons. Also the cartoons were published in a regional Danish newspaper for its own readers, not for Muslims around the world.

Here you can read more about the SADNESS OF MUSLIMS ("peaceful people"):

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/19/international/europe/19cartoon.html

[Mobs of Muslim protesters swarm through Maiduguri, the capital of
Borno State in northeastern Nigeria, with machetes, sticks and iron
rods, The A.P. said. One group threw a tire around a man, poured gas on
him and set him ablaze.  (MY QUESTION IS "DID HE DRAW THE CARTOONS? DOES HE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE CARTOONS?)

[Chima Ezeoke, a Christian Maiduguri resident, said protesters attacked
and looted shops owned by minority Christians, most of them with
origins in the country's south. Witnesses said three children and a
priest were among those killed. (MAYBE THE PRIEST AND THE CHILDREN DREW THE CARTOONS? THE MUSLIMS MUST HAVE BEEN VERY SAD.)

..and so on and so on....
