Ras Al Khaimah: A Sri Lankan maid was run over by a 4X4 vehicle while crossing the Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street in Al Dhait early on Sunday.
The vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old Emirati, ran over the woman, killing her on the spot, said a senior police officer at the emirate’s Traffic and Licensing Department.
The body of the maid was transferred to the police morgue in Saqr Hospital and the police arrested the driver and launched an investigation into the accident.
The officer said initial investigation showed that the driver’s inability to assess the road has caused the accident.
A total of 186 road accidents have been reported in Ras Al Khaimah over the last weekend, said the officer, adding that police seized 26 vehicles and registered a total of 320 traffic violations over the same period.

This makes me think that Emirati parents should spend more time educating their children on how to drive, unless they approve of reckless driving.
