British woman jailed for drinking tea with male friend

demmers's picture

You can see a heart-rending video in the following link of how the mother gives up her two children, after a few days on the run.

The whole thing is that the husband is Egyptian. If he were not an Arab, it wouldn't have been a problem.

Anyway, I have very little sympathy for a woman who marries an Arab Muslim. Have you seen any Arab women marrying Western men??

ther must be more to the story than what has been written, maybe the woman had tea after making love with the guy, and in those contries whose judicial systems are based on the Islamic law that's grounds for the father to get custody of the children. actually, I think the father is always right in legal disputes in strictly Islamic countries

I know an arab  girl who will marry an eastern guy Smile

Happy news sara. I wish you all the best. As long as you understand each other everything will be fine

I know a Saudi woman has married a Western convert guy. By the way, u cant generalize all Arab Muslim men.

MisFatima's picture

I Agree  , You can't generalize all arab men.. As long as the person has Deen (Islam) and a practice Muslim...  There shouldn't be any problem as to whether he is Arab ot not.. that's irrelevant

demmers's picture

ok, habayeb, then the question is Have you seen any Arab Muslim women marrying Western Non-Muslim men?? That's what I meant.

Answer: The Holy Qur’an reads:

This day are [all] good things made lawful for you. The food of those who have received the Scripture is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them. And so are the virtuous women of the believers and the virtuous women of those who received the Scripture before you [lawful for you] when you give them their marriage portions and live with them in honor, not in fornication, nor taking them as secret concubines. Whosoever denies the faith, his work is in vain and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter. (5:5)

The expression of ‘this day’ is very meaningful in this verse and this is why I have quoted the complete verse. It shows that, after revelation of this verse, Muslims were allowed to marry the Christian or the Jewish ladies. As far as the matter of Muslim ladies marrying the Christians or the Jews is concerned, the Holy Qur’an remains silent, which shows that Muslims ladies were not allowed to solemnize such marriages even on ‘that day’.
Our experience also guides us in this regard. A lady, be a westerner or an easterner, lives under the protection of her husband, which definitely gives him an edge over her. He may affect her religious practices and beliefs also over time. It is therefore maintained that Muslim ladies should not marry men from among the People of Book. Muslim men should also exercise prudence as regards what impact their marriage will have on their faith and practices. In a country dominated by Christianity, they should refrain from marrying any Christian lady or when it is clear that their children will be given a Christian upbringing instead of Islamic.

I think that children should never be separated from their mother. The fact that a woman drinks tea or even worse with another man does not show she is un unfit mother, just that she is might be an unfit wife but there is no connection between the two.

let us not relying only on the sayngs of an old Arab sheik for all problems in our life in our modern age. That Arab old sheik had sex with his 9 years old bride...

guneyerkek - There is highly no doubt that ur some one who has no respect for others whatsoever with your comments. But no problem, Ive encountered many such like you and in fact even the claim u made is easily answearble.

We rely on the most beloved Prophet Muhammad's teachings since they are very relevant in today's world too. wait why do u say "let US"? who US? u dont seem to be a muslim (well surely u cant be with a thinking like that ) so please dont US here. and by we, i meant MUSLIMS.

Secondly if u just do a teeny weeny bit of research (which obviously i dont think u have the capability otherwise u woudnt have said such a thing) you will find that in the early ages, women married as soon as they had their PUBERTY which wasnt seen as anything wrong worldwide. Oh and not only in the muslim world even in the european ages and amongst christians and jews as well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_youngest_birth_mothers

The NORM of those times wasnt based on AGE but on PUBERTY. People would be so stupid to judge a person's character  according to the norms and standards of THIS century. Those same people would have to judge and malign their own ancestors then.

on the contrary, habayeb. i've had a lot of respect but the more i learn about muslim societies (except Turkey), my respect for them diminishes. There's  lot of munaafiquun (hypocrites) in Muslim societies, especially in Gulf.. Emiratis with girlffriends and boyfriends 'doing it' in their dark color cars where nobody sees them, or out i 'al-barr' as they call the desert - lots of homosexuality!!!! If somebody is homosexual, good, just don't tell me he's muslim and observant of the laws of islaam. and i can talk a  lot more but don't have the desire to convince anybody of anything. conviction comes from inner thoughts.

the link you gave is good. It showcases the criminality of those cases!! And if you read well, you will see the girls gve birth through Cesarean section.... How well was Cesarean section practiced in Mecca?

anyway, thank you for responding to my comment in a coherent way

Habayeb's picture

lol, people dont really get it do they? The difference between Islam and those that "claim" to be an islamic society? Seriously, i could say lots more too and lol ur comment didnt make any sense either nor it was in anyway related to the point. Dont worry, you wont be able to convince me either way Smile
