The RTA has announced a new system whereby the value of a foreign driver's license would be directly linked to his/her country of origin. The RTA assigns preference to those people holding drievr's licenses from countries with better driving culture (the US, UK, other European countries, Japan...) over other countries like Pakistan, India, the Philippines... and I think that's fine but why would they require the preferred drievr's license holder who seek to benefit from those preferences to also be a citizen of the country issuing the Driver's License. For example, an Indian citizen with a UK DL is denied the benefit of these prefereces.
I think it's not fair, and the system should taken into account the country where the person got his driver's license regardless of his country of citizenship.

fair? face it - that's Dubai
