Hello everybody,
I have got an job offer in dubai as a travel agent and the offer is 3800 dhms plus accommodation. Do you think it's good to go there with that salary? Is it enough? What will be the cost there in Dubai and can anyone
advise me how to apply for a job in dubai and any website. Please, please
Thank you in advance

Dear Sir, I would like to say that that salary you mentioned is not at all sufficient for a descent stay in dubai. More if your havin a family along with you then its impossible. As you have mentioned they provide accomodation, then if ur single you can think of coming to dubai, as you incur no expense on stay. But food expense may cost you somewhere around 600-800dirhams. What about travel....?? are they providing you travel...? If yes then you may well go ahead...But still you may save less.
If travel provided, then u can easily save around 2800-3000 dirhams...so do remember to keep a margin for medical expenses as medical expenses are very expensive if u dont have a health insurance card...can just tell u a normal consultation costs u 150dirhams....medicine costs are extra. Also take into consideration about annual air tickets if the company is not providing it to u.
Best of Luck...!!!
Hey,
Dubai is a nice place to live on the first place.
The salary that was offered to you is not nice thou.
Have some more information about the accomodation they want to give you (location, whether it is shared or not etc etc).
as far as looking for a job goes, try the following websides:
www.bayt.com, www.monster.com, www.expatriates.com, www.naukrigulf.com,
I hope, you can find something better.
Aim for allowances rather than a given accomodation. Like: housing allopwance, transportation allowance, medical insurance, one ticket per year back to your home country. these are acually obligatory allowances as per UAE law, so do not think that you will be too demanding.
Good luck!
I'm reconsidering my job offer. Hope i get a better one in the meantime :-(
thank you for your helpful comments,
The cost of living in Dubai is very high indeed. A salary of 3800 aed will not be sufficient to make both ends meet, because the accommodation charges is extremely costly. But.....
1) if your company offers you accommodation..... that's the best. then your salary will be saved up
2) if your company does not give you accommodation... but if they offer to share up 50% with you contributing.... then too its a bit fine.
Why dont you attempt to negotiate with your company to sponsor accommodation?
Housing expenditure is a big problem in dubai..
Conveyence can be handled, you have private bus service from location to destination it costs max upto 500 aed per month.
Take care of your health there, do not indulge in any vices or smoking or drinking because these are the items which will bring you down.... Medical treatment is very expensive too.
Your daily food will not cost you more than 15 aed even on the most lavish lunch and dinner.
Tickets and visa charges are borne by the company employing you.
Taking all this into consideration, do try to talk with your company and enjoy Dubai.
Good Luck!!
Hi! I have accepted an offer to work for a bank(entry level) in Dubai and I am waiting for my visa. Even though people told me that it's not the best salary(15700 AED, allowance included), I'm sick and tired of working from 8am 'till 8pm. I'm 24, I have a nice career here, but no social life...none so ever...Oh...and by the way, my salary is worse here even though I am in a middle management position. I prefer to lose something in order to gain some peacefulness... Everybody is saying that the cost of living is huge... Do you think I can make it with this salary...at least for one year until my first renegotiation?
Thank you for your answer!
Great site...very helpful!

You'll do well with that salary considering you have no dependents at all. Be prepared to allocate 5-6K a month for accomodation; groceries and eating out are getting expensive but still manageable; cars and petrol are cheap. The good news for you is, you can now convert your Romanian driver's license to an UAE license, which saves you from the great pain of going through the driving classes all over again and the extremely stringent driving tests. Romania is the only country from Eastern Europe being exempted.
Best news ever! Unfortunately, I cannot live without a car anymore! I became a "car-addict"...to say so.
Can't wait to get there and start a new life! I really think that today, Dubai is THE PLACE to be!
