arshi yasser,
the whole world is facing food prices raise and as well as oil prices are rising. Nothing can be down at this moment.
Dubai is liked by foreigners & people are settling down therefore, Dubai Govt needs to plan the city and increase the budget for development. Now focus is not only to serve visitors but to provide better living experience for residents. Salik Gates & taxation are part of this plan.
I have been thinking today, why this happening i found the answer. If we see India as food supplier for middleeast region is developing in this decade drastically and standard of life changing, which resulted into more buying power. Therefore, the countries like India, Pakistan are no more interested to export more of their food items than skilled labour & technology (software houses). Which is resulting into higher prices in this region.
Now world leader will look Africa as source of fertile land which has never been cultivated. Africa can be next World's food supplier with economies of scale.
Further, recent Iraq & Aghanistan war also resulted negitive affect to international trade. further fear of Iran war tends to store & making reserve of food/oil resources in the countries.
World peace is envitable to control the prices & stability in the world.
thanks zaz for updating my knowledge.
