Dubai is a fabulous city to come for a few years, but not for the long run. Besides, now it is getting quite expensive, the beaches are not as many, there's hardly any greenery around. What are your plans people? Are you leaving Dubai? Are you staying? How do your get over your home-sickness??

My recommendation is for you to take evening walks if you can. My wife and I often go to the spice souqs or to Karaama It is very picturesque there, there are always people, it's got a lot of soul - it is the Older part of Dubai. Or go once in a while to Fujairah, where you can experience pure Emirati lifestyle - you can dive snorkel, or surf. Surfing is a great experience and it is rather addictive to tell you the truth.
I love my job and our flat, and the property we have here, and yes, we are relatively well-off (certainly more than we were before we came to Dubai), but still - Dubai ain't gonna be home, ever. I feel there's something missing here.
Well, let's see: In the UK, the weather is murky, gloomy miserable, I hate the greyness, also not feeling safe there (with the knife culture coming to the fore in recent years, "phone slapping" is also not pleasant), the cost of living is much higher than in Dubai even if Dubai has become more expensive recently, high taxation.
Here most of the time we've got really, really nice weather (except the occasional sandstorm). Do NOT FORGET the other Emriates - Fujairah, as mentioned above by vjared is a lovely place to go spend some nice time on the Indian Ocean coast, also Hatta with all the greenery and mountains, the lovely corniches in Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi
So, who would even think of leaving ?? (well, unless you come originally from the Seychelles
Don't be so negative jane-d. There are many nice things about Dubai you're missing in your post. The above comments should give you an impetus to start thinking a bit differently, I hope.
My maid doesn't want but will have to, i am afraid...
Actually I want to go to Dubai.
