to re- gift or not?

Do you find it practical or tacky to recycle unused, unopened gifts and give them to other people? I'd really like to know your opinion about this. Thank you

I think it's tacky, especially if you give it to someone who knows the person who gave you the gift in the first place.

it's fine with me. just make sure you don't give back to the same person who gave you the gift; sometimes gifts stay around for quite some time and you forget who gave you what ha ha Wink

It definitely is practical as you can save some money instead of buying a new gift, however I don't do that. I keep in mind that the giver spent some time thinking and choosing the gift, and gift was for me; I don't feel I have the right to pass it on to somebody else.

>>>But there are etiquette rules, and the first and cardinal rule is not to use re-gifting as a way to pass on an unwanted item that the recipient won’t want either. Here are others:

The re-gift must be a new and unused item, unless it is an antique. You must not have used it yourself first in any way. That would be like eating one or two chocolates out of a box and then rewrapping it and giving it away. If you’ve worn it, it can’t be re-gifted. It must be in its original packaging.

The re-gift must be an item the receiver would want. If you normally would not have selected the re-gifted item as a gift for this person, it’s not the right gift.
and of course not for a close friends for sure, because they knows that such a gifs doesn't fit your personality or lifestyle to gift or to receive, and they excpect more from you. good luck
why don't you keep it for poor people
