Gulf News

An ambitious base jumper who wanted to jump off the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai, ended up high and dry, in jail.

The unidentified base-jumper had made his way to Burj Dubai equipped with his parachute.

Security guards stopped him because he did not have the right permission.

The European national
was not to be dissuaded so easily though, and he ran to the tower and
proceeded to climb up. He said he wanted to jump off one of Dubai's
landmarks.

everyone knows that the tallest building Burj Dubai is raising high. surely some of the worlds famous base jumper will have this as his object in the future. one day with all the necessary precautions and permissions, this record will be made not so long. i only wish, they succeed. haven't we seen people jumping from the aircraft with parachute landing safe. but will the person be able to hit the ground rather than the building itself is what matters. i hope this post has nothing wrong. if it is deceiving, it may well be removed by the admin. thanks

what a fool. the burj is quite high, but not high enough to give enough time and pressure to the chute to deploy.  what kind of base jumper doesnt know that? unless he was planning on a static line jump, which would make him land quite hard and possibly ruin his knees.  google does have a wonderful picture of the burj top from which you can see the corner of the earth. any idea if this is a real image? fascinating indeed
