Dubai stock market plummet to 6-year lows

Dubai Financial Market's (DFM) benchmark index slid 3.2 per cent to 1,420 points on Monday slumping to a six-year low.

Fourteen stocks lost more than 3 per cent, including contractor Drake & Scull, down 8.5 per cent, and builder Arabtec down 5.6 per cent.

“Egypt's bourse is opening on Tuesday and there are a lot of uncertainties that can affect our markets," Mohammed Yasin, CAPM Investment chief investment officer, said.

“Bargain hunters are around, but they are waiting for events to unfold and to get the best possible price."

Markets in the Middle East extend losses, with no sign of selling pressure easing as deadly unrest sweeping the region spooked investors.

Qatar's index too fell 4.2 per cent to 7,849 points, a 16-week low. Oman's stock market index also dropped 3.5 per cent to 6,235 points.

Saudi Arabia's index (TASI) also slumped to a nine-month low on Sunday.

This is exactly why I think people should find a financial adviser that they can trust. Stocks are always going to be difficult to predict. You can't do it on your own, people. Try finding a finance person online. I hear Angie's List has them, and there are other places as well.
