Why some people changed the Persian Gulf name to Arabian Gulf?

msaid's picture

No body of water by that name has ever existed. The correct name is Persian Gulf, which always has been, and will always remain, Persian. If my name iz Said, why call me Bill?????

Why don't we just call it The Gulf?

The National Geographic Atlas says: "Historically and commonly known as the Persian Gulf, this body of water is also referred by some as the Arabian Gulf." So, why don't you accept that there are people (Arabs) who call it Arabian Gulf? Of course, it is true that outside of the Arab world it is usually known as Persian Gulf.

So that you're annoyed, msaid. That's why! There is this body of water between the UK and France - the Brits call it the English Channel, the French call it - La Manche. Not a problem.

You´re name is Said because your parents who helped create you decided so. The Gulf is called Arabian Gulf by the Arabs and Persian Gulf by you and most of the rest of world.

Some people say Ireland, others Eire. Some people say the Middle East, others call the same region the Near East. It depends on your point of view.
