I'm going to get married with a Dubai guy. But i don't know anything about the law there. What are the right for me if i become an UAE citizen? What are the rights for men and for women? And does a man there has a right to have many wives? Is there any divorced case? If divorce case, what will the wife have?

>>>u can visit www.eyeofdubai.com or put on google (the rights of an UAE woman citezen )i think you will find what you need...Good luck.
The wife, in case of divorce, goes home without the children (if you have). There is 30% divorce rate in the Emirates. The children stay with the father.
The husband has the right (According to the Quran, the Holy Book of Islam) to have up to 4 wives at the same time. It rarely happens that someone has 4 wives but you can find people with 2 wives, for example the Ruler of Dubai - Sheikh Mohammed. Here is the Wikipedia article on his first wife, (his so-called "senior" wife as opposed to Princess Haya, who is described as his "junior" wife). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hind_bint_Maktoum_bin_Juma_Al_Maktoum
Rights of a UAE citizen: the cheapest electricity in the world, no water bills, government housing and government rent rates, government jobs with upto 3 months off a year not including Al-Eid holidays, etc., middle management level in the municipality (about 7-10 years time served) comes with a salary of around 100,000 dirhams per month!, free or cheap land to build a house, start a business etc, very low rates of interest from banks etc.
But, to tell you the truth, even as a UAE citizen you are still under the guardianship of your husband, so... if you are an independent, strong-minded person, you probably won't feel comfortably as a UAE wife (or one of two wives).
nuong_lasgh, you can check this article regarding divorce and the reasons for an Emirati marrying a foreigner http://www.thenational.ae/article/20080928/NATIONAL/605984148/1010
>>>yes, you are 100% right demmers,great job!!!
maybe i don't have the right to say that Nuong_lasgh,but please take in consideration what demmers has answered you,and if you are the first wife,be sure that sooner or later he will marry a Dubai woman ,not because of you, because of his family(mother, father) of course.try to put a plan for10 years and not 10 month.
think twise and Good luck again
I am not absolutely sure since I am not a lawyer but, from what I know, in case your Muslim husband dies, and you're NOT a Muslim, you get nothing (no money, no properties, etc.) according to Sharia law. However, a Muslim man can will 33% of his wealth to whomever he wishes (apart from the people that would normally inherit, for example his sons and daughters), so he can will that 33% to you as a non-Muslim wife, but if he doesn't write that down, you really don't get anything.
Thank you so much for your sharing information Demmers. Your information is very valuable to me. I should think more careful about what you tell me. Thank you so much again. Please share me more information.
Best wishes.
