Assalamu alaikum AnaDubawi Friends
Let's discuss hijab. My Friends as you all know as Muslims , we hear and we obey. Allah says whatever the messenger gives you , you take it and whatever he forbids then you refrain... Anything in Quran should not be questioned as to why this or why that -because Allah Ta'ala knows best , therefore when we listen to Al-Qu'ran Kareem the believers says " Allah has spoken the truth... Alhamdulillah
Why do you think some Muslim ladies do not wear the hijab even after it is reveiled the in the Qu'ran??
Your Friend Fatima:
Wa salaam

dear MisFatima, I must admit I am not a Muslim but I am curious. How do you women feel about the veil? I am not interested what you should feel about it or what is written anywhere. How do you as human beings feel about it?
Good question!
As a human being the viel to some Muslim women, mind you I say some, I don't want to generalize because not all muslim wowen wears it and I'm not sure if the ones that are not wearing it feels the same. So it means
1. An act of obedience to Allah
2.A manifestation for chastity and modesty
3.The hijab is Taharah (Purity)
4.The hijab is a Shield
5.The hijab is Eeman (Belief or Faith)
Allah made the adherence to the hijab a manifestation for chastity and modesty. Allah says:
"O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested." [Noble Quran 33:59]
Sister even if we Muslim ladies want to feel as if we don't need a veil to feel the above mentioned , it is done as an act of obedience to our Creator. At the end we must answer to the Lord of the Worlds as to why and what kept us from obeying His commands.
This is what I found in wikipedia:
"The term hijab or veil is not used in the Qur'an to refer to an article of clothing
for women or men, rather it refers to a spatial curtain that divides or
provides privacy. The Qur'an instructs the male believers (Muslims) to
talk to wives of Muhammad
behind a hijab. This hijab was the responsibility of the men and not
the wives of Muhammad. However, in later Muslim societies this
instruction, specific to the wives of Muhammad, was generalized,
leading to the segregation of the Muslim men and women. The modesty in
Qur'an concerns both men's and women's gaze, gait, garments, and
genitalia. The clothing for women involves khumūr over the necklines
and jilbab (cloaks) in public so that they may be identified and not
harmed. Guidelines for covering of the entire body except for the
hands, the feet, and the face, are found in texts of fiqh and hadith that are developed later."
less veils, more opportunity for women to also take part in public life, more progress for the whole country - look at Turkey. Thanks to the progressive reforms by Ataturk Turkey is definitly the most modern Muslim nation on Earth.
on the other side, look at the crippled society of Saudi Arabia, where Mecca and Medina happen to be located. Women not only wear veils and burkas, they are denied the right to drive a car! In that backward society, if a pregnant woman's time to give birth comes and there's no man at home, nobody can help her get to a hospital...
If human had any knowledge what so ever as to THE PURPOSE OF LIFE, what's happening in the society may not have happened.. Why do you think Allah ta'ala commends us to SEEK KNOWLEDGE, knowledge seeking is commended upon every single person living on this earth.
Every corrupted actions that are happening on this earth is not supported by Islam. Islam as a matter fact promots Peace and happiness. Tourturing women is Forbidden, Please people seek the fundamental message of Al-Islam and try to understand to real meaning.
The First revelation is about seeking knowledge:the first revelation came to him Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he was forty years old.
He heard a voice say: “Read!” He said: “I cannot read.” The voice again said: “Read!” He said: “I cannot read.” A third time the voice, more terrible, commanded: “Read!” He said: “What can I read?” The voice said:
“Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth.
“Createth man from a clot.
“Read: And it is thy Lord the Most Bountiful
“Who teacheth by the pen,
“Teacheth man that which he knew not.”
People are ignorant and Allah knows it , he send messengers to open our eyes.. Less Veil means more opportunity for the world and more punishment in the here-after by He Who Commended the veil.
This LIFE is temporary,, We need to live for the hereAfter and be patient .. May Allah guide and protect us all.. My sisters I hope I did not come too harsh and if any of you feel this way- it was not my intention , As a Muslim I want the best for myself and the Muslim Ummah and it hurts to see how my fellow Muslimah are in fact being tourtured only because the're trying follow the command of their LORD Allah.
I'd like to have you all on this site .. Free your mind ... www.dawah4all.webs.com
Assalam aleikum sister in Islam,
Thank you for reminding our sisters about wearing hijab. God bless you.
you know of the case about Saudi schoolgirls caught in fire, they trying to leave the school without the veils?? Here is a link , http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1874471.stm
One witness said he saw three policemen "beating young girls to prevent them from leaving the school because they were not wearing the abaya".
15 girls died!
NO VEILS! NO FANATIC ISLAMIC MADMEN!
Wa alaykum as salaam Miss Fatima,
There are muslim women who dont cover their heads is because every one has been given a choice and free will of when to do what. Hijab is something that should come from "within" one's heart. And ofcourse it doesnt only mean covering one's hair but also hijab of eyes (lowering one's gaze). Many muslims get stuck on the issue of hijab while there are other things to take into comsideration as well. Ofcourse hijab is required but the first thing a person must reform is his/her charcacter, morals and values. If there is a woman who has converted to islam, we dont tell her to 1st cover herself. We 1st talk to her about the aqeedah or belief. There are so many muslims who have no idea of what the shahaadah truly means! They say they follow the Quran and sunnah but even commit acts of shirk. There are women who wear the hijab but their actions are not that of what a muslim should be! Besides, many of us who wear the hijab now alhamdulilah didnt before! We all took our time to get used it and love it. Hence, its important for a person to 1st learn about Islam clearly and insha;allah by time as the love for Islam develops the person will also begin to do other necessary stuff. For example the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) worked on the Imaan of the meccans for 13yrs before the rules and regulations came in.
Brumbi - As a woman i feel most honoured like a pearl or a diamond in my coverings. A diamond is covered in thick coal and hence its preciousness and value. It frees me from the notions the media like create of how a woman should look, what hot and whats not and whats in trend and what not. It calls for respect and makes people focus on my thoughts and values and not my looks.
Ortkurt - Who told u women cant be progressive in their veils? My question is not what PEOPLE or a SOCIETY tells u. my question is can u find me ANYTHING in ISLAM that tells u women cant be progressive? Oh please, dont give me the same old stuff that if a country is muslim state its obvious that they must be following the rules of Islam. Nope. Sorry to disappoint people who say that but no country in today's world is following what Islam teaches. And please dont even bother giving Turkey's example because a secular state is one which is "not for religion, nor is against religion" and clearly their banning of hijabs shows that its against religion and even though it has many muslims living in it, it has failed to not only comply with Islamic teachings but also failed to recognize the needs of its muslim countrymen. What about those so many educated women who fought against hijab ban? Their's is a crippled thinking too?Who gave others right to snatch my right of wearing my veil when Allah has given it to me?
Now lets see at the time of the Prophet himself how "progressive" Muslim women were. Do you know that women participated in wars during that time? Do you know they even acted as nurses during wars? Oh yes in their veils
Do you know they were even scholars? Take a look at even saudi. Women are studying to become doctors, Tv presenters, journalists, writers, teachers etc. Just because the "COUNTRY'S" law doesnt allow women to drive doesnt mean "ISLAM" doesnt allow a woman to drive. Even if a person is a non muslim, God has given one brains to research and think!
guneyerkek - what has veil gotta do with men thinking fanatically? Any muslim who knows his/her Islam well would tell you this behaviour was wrong.May Allh grant jannah to those gals. Ameen. True, we are representatives of our religion but what can i who has no fanatical thinking if a few of the followers act this way? Is it common sense to judge everyone and the religion? There are many people out there who say their Muslims but whose actions say otherwise and hence Islam is free from it.
Alhamdulillah...
I think in Turkey they banned the hijab only in state institutions like the parliament, state-run school and universities, etc. You are free to wear it or not anywhere else, though.
habayeb, you say "Sorry to disappoint people who say that but no country in today's world
is following what Islam teaches."
Was Islam ever put to practice in a correct way, according to what the Quran prescribes??
What i meant by that was, There are "so called" muslim countries these days. There is nothing such as an "Islamic state" Sure alhamdulilah im glad im living in a muslim country but there are acts i see which are really against the teaching of Islam. Lets say a country where the womenfolk are not allowed to get out and get education for themselves and they call themselves a Muslim country where as Islam prescribes education for both male and female. Then let's say a muslim country that allows the selling of alcohol and has discos and stuff. Im not completely belitting all such muslim countries but my point is they arent "perfect" and hence whatever hypocrisies that one sees in such countries cant be blamed on the religion.
was it "ever" practiced according to the rules in the Quran? Sure, during the time of the prophet (sallalahu alayi wassalam) and then during the rule of the four caliphs after the prophet.
Jzakalla 5eer Habayeb and Fatma i do support u , i do support Islam against the hypocrisity and i pray for our Ummah to be guided by Allah Ta'ala in succeding the Jannah AmeenThe answer of ur question my dear sis Fatima - i think some of our sisters don't wear hijab it's only because they r weak, as Habayeb said they don't have a strong Imaan...and beside that i think they have somehow different situations which in their visions think it's is ok in not wearing it at all...( for example they will find such as "x".."y" reasons not to wear it like as i heard before " i'm not waring it bcoz of the place where i live... (europe where majority r christians or other religions...)" or other they will say " i'm not wearing bcoz of my parents they won't allow me, since they don't know i embraced Islam..." and many other reasons they will put before Hejab. That's sad...but we don't know what's in their hearts, inshalla Ta'ala one day God will show and opent their hearts to the best level of piety. We can't do more just to pray for them! Al7amdulella i'm one of the women God has shower His Mercy on me and putted piety :) In my opinion if anyone ask me "why do u wear hejab?" (excuse my answer), my answer will be: "Why do u wear underware?" ha? tell me?Think of this and then anwer ur self and then answer me back ;)
usually people wear underwear to cover their "shameful" parts. You wear hejab because you think your head is "shameful"???
Yes guneyerkek it'a a shame for a pious muslimah who obeys Allah Ta'ala,Qur'an and sunna to show off her hair and other parts of body ('awrah)!
the glasses, are they part of the hejab?
Why would sunglasses be part of hijab?
we wear it , like how others do due to the sunlight...although ive no idea why people wear shades in the mall.
Thats not the best example but im sure sara means to say its all about "hayaa" (modesty)
i have an idea why people wear shades in the mall. to show off!!! See, even "pious" hejab-wearing women use funky sun-glasses, nail polish and lipstick... for the same reason they are worn all over the world - to look better, expose their femininity. I don't know about the hayaa.....
walaikumusalam dear misfatima
i agree with you bout the hijab.....but nowadays most of the women did not wear hijab.........they`re telling that its not compulsory........as we know that its not compulsory but we better follow our prophet.........wat he tell us.its better for us to obey him........right or not?
Assalamu alikum dears..
Hijab is best dress for females as God orders it In holy quran. It benefits women in too many ways..
As my experiance with many other religions freinds,,they faced many problems with modern drerssings...
As per islam u can free with your soulmate only.its better and it improves family relationship.
And my topic...
Aboute hijab for men,,,
its clearly revealed in Holy quran,,
Men should down their eye whenever women passes in front of them,,
if u see them for first time its ok,,but more than that ,,watching her like something as interesting its Sin.
so Hijab for men is on their eyes.. and its best too...
I prefrer even my sister n wife the best dress..is Hijab..
its perfect dress.
you can wear it too rasnaguy. Why not?
dear brother,
as per god ordered .how mens can follow the hijab am following that way..
you can also try it..
My observation is that hejab in Dubai and other places in the Gulf (except maybe Saudi) is just culture for them and not necessarily meaning that they adhere to the religion. In saudi it all black and plain, no decorations. I was told by a Qatari woman (who wears all black and doesn't shake hands with men, never!) that that's the way it should be, but here you see all sort of colors, style and adornings. Take a look at the picture Habayeb chose as her picture - pink abaya / shayla Islamic????
Just my 2cents
solecita - Give me PROOF from ISLAM that color is not allowed/forbidden
I care a "hoot" about which woman says what..I follow the Quran and sunnah and there's "nothing" that says I cant wear colored abayas or shaylas..as long as they arent flashy. Besides, who said its supposed to be "only" abayas?
As far as I know the Qur'an doesn't mention any colour specifically, so the fact black is worn in Dubai is cultural In coutnries like Indonesia Malaysia and India abayas are colorful
habayeb- you care a hoot about who says what but trying going to the Holy land of Saudi with your pink hijab.............
I don't have proofs, I just look around and see women clad in black, I certainly think the Muslim world is not one thing, there are many Muslim countries most of them with differing opinions and customs, but except for a few of them the rest are very very backward.... do you know of the new law they want to pass in Afghanistan where it will be legal for a Shia man to rape his wife, meaning to have sex whenever he wants even if the wife doesn't want? Now I don't know if it is written in the Koran or not, but these people there are Muslims, are not they? That's what I care about. Also look at the news I just posted... about Saudi child brides,, I have heardof similar cases in Yemen... The Grand Mufti of Saudi says it's not unlawful to marry them off before the girls even know what they want in life. Do you care a hoot about what he says or you would say the Grand Mufti is not a Muslim. Have you been married off by your father, Habayeb? Do you know of anybody who has been? Is it good? Who married off 9-year old Aysha to Muhammad, and do you care a hoot if she liked it?
folks, let's behave more moderately here, and why don't we discuss Dubai, but always thees contentious issues?
solecita - You took one issue and mixed them up with all others. Please "dont" talk to "me" about my beloved Ayesha radhiallahu anha and tell me if she liked it or not because I really dont have to prove anything to you.I stay away from the ignorant. Girl, please go on assuming "whatever" you want
