Do you think the UAE will follow Bahrain in canceling the sponsorship law?

Finally, civilisation has come to the labour markets of the Gulf shores.... I loved it to see Bahrain's labour minister declares that "This is the end of the sponsorship system, which does not differ much from slavery,".

i voted yes, but only because the question doesn't specify a timeframe. Some time the UAE will have to scrap it's sponsorship rules of employment but I really don't see it happening in the next two or three years

Very good indeed--slavery is now abolished in Bahrain. I'm waiting for the rest of the Middle East to follow the lead.

Bravo Bahrain! This is a good decision ............. BUT it looks like one step ahead, one step backward. Why? Coz it looks like bahraini parliament is banning alcohol in restaurants. Only private consumption by home delivery or hotel room service will be allowed. So, Bahrain, which is lacking in beaches, will be hurt by the decline of Saudi "tourists" coming to 'socialise' and drink in the weekend.
